Approximately 2009-2010. The airstrip was listed as active in Czech aviation databases in 2007-2008 but was reported as closed on pilot forums by mid-2010. By 2012, it was no longer on official lists of approved airfields. Satellite imagery from 2011 shows the runway becoming overgrown, confirming its disuse around this time.
The closure was reportedly due to unresolved issues with the owner of the land on which the airstrip was located. This is a common reason for the closure of small, privately operated airfields and was not related to military conversion, a major accident, or broader economic reasons.
The site has been fully decommissioned and completely returned to agricultural use. High-resolution satellite imagery shows the land is now a tilled farm field, and all traces of the runway, taxiways, and any associated structures (such as a small hangar or shed) have been removed. The land is now indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland.
Střemy Airstrip was a small, private airfield designated as an 'Area for Sport Flying Devices' (Plocha pro sportovní létající zařízení - SLP) for ultralight aircraft. Its significance was purely local, serving the general aviation and ultralight community in the Mělník district of the Central Bohemian Region. It featured a single grass runway, approximately 400 meters long and 20 meters wide (RWY 13/31). Operations were limited to private, recreational flights of ultralight and other small sport aircraft. It did not handle any commercial, cargo, or scheduled passenger services.
There are no known plans, discussions, or prospects for reopening the Střemy Airstrip. Given that the land has been fully converted back to agriculture for over a decade and the original closure was due to landowner disputes, the likelihood of its revival as an airfield is considered to be virtually zero.
Reply to @david: so I did mark it as "closed"
Reply to @david: and white closed-runway Xs!
@Spinner reported this airport closed. Newer satellite imagery on Google shows a road running along the strip now and out both ends.
