The airport was officially closed and removed from aviation databases around the late 2000s to early 2010s. An exact public record of the closure date is unavailable, but activity is believed to have ceased between 2009 and 2011.
The closure was due to economic and land-use reasons. The primary factor was the decision by the private landowner not to extend the lease for aviation operations, choosing instead to revert the land to its original agricultural purpose. There is no evidence that the closure was related to a specific accident, regulatory action, or military conversion.
The site of the former airport has been fully returned to agricultural use. Satellite imagery of the coordinates confirms that the area is now a field or meadow, with no visible traces of airport infrastructure such as hangars, buildings, or runway markings. The faint outline of the former runway can sometimes be discerned from the air, but for all practical purposes, it is indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland. The land is privately owned and not accessible for any aviation activities.
Dvorce (CZ-0097) was a small, private grass airstrip designated as a 'plocha pro sportovní létající zařízení' (area for sport flying devices). Its significance was primarily local, serving the ultralight (UL) and general aviation community. It consisted of a single grass runway (approximately 600x30 meters). The airport was a base for recreational pilots and a convenient stop for those flying in the scenic South Bohemian region, famous for the Třeboňsko pond system. It operated strictly under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and handled only light, single-engine aircraft and ultralights. It never supported commercial, cargo, or scheduled military operations.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Dvorce airport. Given that the land is privately owned and has been successfully reintegrated into agricultural use for over a decade, a return to aviation activity is considered extremely unlikely. Reopening would require the landowner's consent, significant investment to re-establish the runway and facilities, and new certification, none of which is anticipated. The local aviation community now uses other nearby airfields like Jindřichův Hradec (LKJH) or Hosín (LKHS).
