I lived and went to school in Athabasca back in the early 60s. There used to be a small grass airstrip with a few hangers and some small high wing aircraft. Piper Cub, Fleet 80 or similar. At that age l just wanted to fly. As a retired B737 Jurassic and Classic pilot l took the opportunity to see how Athabasca has changed. What can I say......remarkable and beautiful.
A-Town TAXI is available from 3pm until 4am 7 days a week: (780)675-3636 www dot atowntaxi dot ca
Muskeg Creek Taxi is available 6am until 10pm: (780)675-9171.
Magic Wand Cab Co is available Mon to Sat 7am to 9pm and Sun 7am to 6pm: 780-675-0302.
Fuel is sold on field by Central Air. Sadly, there is a $50 callout fee on weekends now. And someone may not always be around during the week either. So make sure you have enough fuel to get home or make plans to fuel elsewhere.
Do you know of any flights at this time?
Thanks,
e
That's good news about the fee. Sault Ste. Marie (CYAM) abandoned its landing fee for small aircraft a couple of years ago, and I think traffic has increased as a result.
As of September 12, 2007 it seems that the County of Athabasca is no longer charging the landing fee for privately registered aircraft.
There is a landing fee of $10 (ten dollars) here. But parking is free and the 100LL is sold at a reasonable rate.
