Taxis are available on-site to meet all scheduled arriving flights. You can find them waiting outside the terminal building. Key local providers include Taxi 24 and Taxi Union.
Car rental counters are located inside the airport terminal for convenient pick-up. Agencies operating at Val-d'Or Airport include National Car Rental and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. Booking in advance is strongly recommended.
There is no direct public bus or train service to the Val-d'Or Airport terminal. Travelers needing to get to the city must use a taxi or a rental car.
Val D'Or was great experience!, Valpiro FBO staff were helpful, friendly and efficient, and we had ground power as soon as we had shut down. We had emailed them overnight and, following their response we phoned and made contact. We arrived and parked on the ramp nearest to their facility and were airborne again 58 minutes later after the refuel, coffee and loo stop! Definitely a top-tip in Northern Canada.
Flew here for a Hope Air flight today. Everyone at the airport was friendly, especially the security guard.
There are two aviation fuel suppliers at Val-d'Or, Valpiro beside the terminal and Petro-T at the south end of the runway, but only Petro-T has 100LL. There's a little Casse-Croute (snack bar) in the terminal, but I'm not sure if it's always open. Since there were no scheduled flights due, the FSS guy let me park right in front of the terminal for an hour: the Petro-T truck drove up and fueled my plane a few minutes after I called.
The phone number for Hangar-Q (Petro-T) is 819-874-7000.
Be prepared to speak French: outside of Montreal and Gatineau, it's not a safe assumption that most francophones can speak English as well.
