Tuktoyaktuk / James Gruben Airport (CYUB (YUB)) is a public airport located near Tuktoyaktuk, Northwest Territories, Canada. It is operated by the Government of the Northwest Territories. The airport is also classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada, with Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers capable of handling general aviation aircraft with no more than 15 passengers.
The airport features *one gravel runway, designated 11/29, measuring 4,600 feet (1,402 meters) in length and 100 feet wide*. Its elevation is 14 feet (4 meters) above mean sea level.
Historically, the airport was *originally constructed to serve the Distant Early Warning Line site* adjacent to Tuktoyaktuk. It transitioned from military management to Transport Canada in 1973, opening for civilian use. While it previously offered scheduled service from Inuvik via Aklak Air, this service ceased in 2018 following the completion of the Inuvik-Tuktoyaktuk Highway, which led to a significant decrease in demand for air travel between the communities. The airport is named in honor of James Gruben, a local bush pilot and businessman.
