Dangshan General Airport (under construction)

The project was suspended and effectively canceled before completion. While no single official reason has been publicly stated, the halt is likely due to a combination of factors such as a shift in local government priorities, funding reallocation, or a reassessment of the project's economic viability, a common occurrence for infrastructure projects in the region during that period.

The site is an abandoned construction project. Satellite imagery shows a clearly defined but unpaved and incomplete runway and taxiway system. There are no buildings, hangars, control towers, or any other operational infrastructure. The land is dormant and appears to be slowly being reclaimed by nature, with no aviation-related activity present.

The airport has no operational history as it was never finished. Its significance lies only in its planning phase. It was designed as a Class A1 General Aviation airport intended to serve multiple purposes: agricultural support (crop spraying for Dangshan's large fruit industry), emergency and medical rescue, pilot training, aerial tourism, and private business flights. The project was part of a broader Anhui provincial strategy to develop a network of general aviation airports.

There are currently no known official plans or public discussions about resuming construction or opening the airport. The project has not been mentioned in recent local government development reports, suggesting it is considered a canceled or indefinitely shelved project. Resumption would require significant new investment and renewed political initiative, which does not appear to be forthcoming.
