Chengdu Huangtianba Air Base (ICAO: CN-0026), also known as Huangtianba Airport or Chengdu Wenjiang Airport, is a military-only airport located in Chengdu (Qingyang), Sichuan Province, China,.
Type of facility and operations: It is operated by the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group (CAC) as its flight test center. It is not an operational military base for stationed combat units. The airport has a single concrete runway measuring 2,550 meters in length and 50 meters in width.
Notable features or history: Originally built in 1944 as a reserve grass airfield for Operation Matterhorn during World War II, it was abandoned after the war. In 1957, the site was repurposed for the No. 432 Aircraft Repair Factory, which later became CAC. The airport has been the site of maiden flights for numerous aircraft developed by CAC, including various J-7 series models, the FC-1 Xiaolong (JF-17 Thunder), the J-10 fighter, and the J-20 stealth fighter. It was also used to handle transport aircraft carrying relief supplies after the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.
Current status: The air base is currently active and used for military purposes only. There is no scheduled airline service.
