McMillans Corners Aerodrome

The facility was a registered private aerodrome. The closure was not due to a specific incident, military conversion, or broad economic reasons. Typically, small private airstrips like this are closed at the owner's discretion, often due to the sale of the property, the owner's retirement from flying, or the cost and effort of maintenance and insurance becoming prohibitive.

The site is currently private farmland. Recent satellite imagery shows that the physical buildings (likely a private hangar and sheds) remain on the property. The faint outline of the former turf runway is still visible but is unmaintained and is slowly being reclaimed by the surrounding agricultural fields. The property is not accessible to the public.

McMillans Corners Aerodrome (CPC8) was a private turf airstrip with limited historical significance. Its primary role was to serve the personal, recreational flying needs of its owner and potentially a small number of local general aviation pilots. Operations would have consisted of light, single-engine aircraft such as Cessnas or Pipers. It had no scheduled commercial or military operations. Its runway was listed as being approximately 2,600 feet long.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the aerodrome. As the land is privately owned, any reactivation would be entirely dependent on the current landowner's initiative, investment, and ability to meet Transport Canada's requirements for re-registration. The likelihood of this happening is considered extremely low.
