Circa early to mid-1990s. The airstrip was depicted on the 1991 VFR Navigation Chart but was absent from subsequent charts and publications, indicating it ceased operations shortly after.
Urban encroachment and real estate development. The airstrip was located on the outskirts of the growing Aylmer sector of Gatineau. As the city expanded, the land became significantly more valuable for residential housing, leading to its sale and redevelopment.
The site has been completely redeveloped into a dense residential neighborhood known as Jardins Lavigne in Gatineau, Quebec. The former runway's location is now occupied by houses, suburban streets (such as Rue de la Praline and Rue du Pouding-Chômeur), and associated parkland. No visible remnants of the runway, hangars, or any other aviation infrastructure exist today.
Ferris Farm was a privately owned and operated airstrip. Its primary function was to serve the recreational flying needs of its owner and the local general aviation community. It featured a single turf runway, approximately 2,200 feet long, suitable for light single-engine aircraft such as Cessnas, Pipers, and homebuilt planes. It held no major commercial or military significance but was a characteristic example of the numerous private grass strips that once dotted the landscape around Canadian cities before being consumed by urban sprawl.
Zero. The land has been permanently and extensively repurposed for high-density residential use. Re-establishing an airport in this location is impossible due to zoning regulations, safety concerns, and the existing infrastructure.
