Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn Airport

The airport was a private aerodrome (Pvt) not registered with Transport Canada. Closures of such facilities are typically at the discretion of the owner. The reason was not due to a major event like an accident or military conversion, but most likely a personal decision by the owner related to the sale of the property, cost of upkeep, retirement from flying, or other private matters.

The site remains private property. High-resolution satellite imagery confirms that the physical infrastructure, including the 3000-foot paved runway and a single hangar-like building, is still intact. However, the runway surface shows signs of degradation, lacks markings, and is not maintained for aviation use. The property appears to be a private residential estate, with the former airstrip now serving as a dormant feature of the landscape.

The airport held local significance as a well-maintained private general aviation facility. It was not a public airport and did not handle commercial, cargo, or military operations. When active, it was known simply as 'Woburn' and operated by a private individual. Its primary function was to support recreational flying. The facility featured a single asphalt runway, designated 16/34, with dimensions of approximately 3000 feet in length and 75 feet in width, making it suitable for a variety of light single and twin-engine aircraft.

There are no known public plans, proposals, or discussions to reopen the Saint-Augustin-de-Woburn Airport. Any future reactivation would depend entirely on the initiative and investment of the current private landowner. A reopening for public use is considered extremely unlikely due to the small population of the surrounding area and the existence of other nearby public airports, such as Lac-Mégantic Airport (CSL4).
