Girwood Island Water Aerodrome

The aerodrome was a private facility, indicated by its 'Prior Permission Required' (PPR) status. The closure was most likely due to the owner ceasing aviation activities, selling the property, or simply allowing the registration with Transport Canada to lapse. There is no evidence to suggest it was closed for military, commercial, or safety-related reasons.

The site, Girwood Island (Île Girwood), is a private residential property. Satellite imagery shows a single large residence, extensive woods, and a dock. While the dock could potentially moor a floatplane, the location is no longer a registered aerodrome with Transport Canada.

The aerodrome had no significant military or commercial history. Its sole purpose was to serve as a private, registered landing area for seaplanes and floatplanes on the Lake of Two Mountains.
