Tramway Road Airport

The airport was a private aerodrome, and its closure was due to the cessation of private operations. The land was subsequently repurposed for agricultural use by the owner, which is a common reason for the closure of small, privately-owned grass strips located on farmland.

The site is no longer an airport and has been fully converted back to agricultural land. Recent satellite imagery shows the former runway area has been plowed over and is actively used for crop cultivation, making it indistinguishable from the adjacent fields. All traces of airport infrastructure, such as runway markers or dedicated hangars, have been removed.

Tramway Road Airport held local significance as a registered private aerodrome for general aviation. It was not a commercial or military facility. Operations were limited to private, recreational flying and potentially agricultural support for the local area. It featured a single turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet long by 100 feet wide. As a private field, access was restricted, requiring prior permission from the owner/operator. There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. Given that the land has been completely reclaimed for farming, a reopening is considered extremely unlikely.
