The facility, located on Baffin Island, serves as a docking and refuelling station and is connected to Arctic Bay and its airport by a 40-kilometer road. It is intended for seasonal use, typically for approximately four to five weeks annually, due to challenges with unheated fuel tanks and ground movement caused by permafrost. The facility has experienced extensive delays in becoming fully operational.
