The closure was primarily due to the cessation of operations by its main user, the flight school 'Aviation B.L. inc.', which relocated its activities. While not officially stated, such closures near urban areas are often influenced by a combination of factors including changes in marina management priorities, increased recreational boat traffic creating operational conflicts, and local community concerns related to noise and safety.
The site is now used exclusively as a recreational marina (Marina de Boucherville). The water area where seaplanes once landed and took off is now used solely by pleasure boats.
