Ste-Anne-De-Sorel Airport

Economic reasons, specifically the conversion of the land for other use. The aerodrome was a private turf strip, and such properties are often closed when the land becomes more valuable for agriculture or development. Satellite imagery confirms the land was sold and repurposed for farming.

The site has been completely converted into a farm. The former turf runway is now a cultivated agricultural field. A large, modern farm building has been constructed on the northern part of the former runway area. There are no remaining visible traces of the airport infrastructure.

Ste-Anne-De-Sorel was a small, private, registered aerodrome that served the general aviation community in the Sorel-Tracy region of Quebec. Its operations were limited to light, privately-owned aircraft (e.g., Cessnas, Pipers) and possibly ultralights for recreational purposes. It featured a single turf runway, approximately 2500 feet long (oriented 17/35). The airport held no commercial or military significance and functioned solely as a local hub for private pilots.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. The complete redevelopment of the land for agricultural use, including the construction of large, permanent structures, makes the possibility of re-establishing an aerodrome at this location extremely unlikely.
