Haskett Airport

The closure appears to be due to economic and land-use reasons. As a small, private airstrip, the owner likely decided it was no longer needed or economically viable to maintain. The site of the former airport has been fully converted back into active agricultural farmland. All airport infrastructure has been removed. Depending on the time of year and crop cycles, a faint outline of the former north-south runway can still be discerned in satellite imagery, but the land is otherwise indistinguishable from the surrounding fields.

Haskett Airport was a small, private airstrip. It was not a public or commercial airport and held no major historical significance on a national level. Its primary function was likely to serve the private aviation needs of the landowner and local community, which could have included recreational flying or agricultural operations like crop dusting. The airport consisted of a single turf runway, approximately 2,400 feet long, aligned north-south (17/35). The identifier CA-0157 was not an official Transport Canada or ICAO code but likely a designation used in private aviation databases.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Haskett Airport. The land has been fully integrated into a working farm, and re-establishing an airstrip would require significant cost and the removal of valuable cropland from production. The private need that the airstrip once served has evidently ended.
