Status Misinterpretation - Not Closed
The designation 'closed' in some unofficial databases for CA-0074 is misleading. This is a private airstrip that is not registered with Transport Canada for public use and is not listed in the Canada Flight Supplement (CFS). Rather than being formally 'closed' due to economic or safety reasons, it operates as a private, prior-permission-required (PPR) field. Its removal from any public listings would have been a decision by the owner to maintain privacy and avoid the regulatory requirements of a public-use aerodrome.
As of the latest satellite imagery (2023), the site at 44.404209, -77.760331 is an active and well-maintained private airstrip. The turf runway is clearly visible and in excellent condition, and a hangar is present on the property. The facility is actively used for private aviation and is not abandoned, overgrown, or repurposed for other uses like agriculture or development.
The airport, sometimes known locally as 'Rowe's Field', is a private general aviation airstrip. Its history is tied to the property owner for personal and recreational aviation. It was developed to support light, single-engine aircraft like Cessnas or Pipers. Its significance is purely local, serving as a private base for its owner and invited guests. It has no known history of commercial, military, or significant flight training operations. The aerodrome features a single, well-maintained turf runway approximately 2,600 feet long.
The concept of 'reopening' does not apply, as the airport is currently active for private use. There are no known plans or prospects for it to become a public-use airport. For it to be 'reopened' to the public, the owner would need to register it with Transport Canada and meet all associated standards for publication in the Canada Flight Supplement, which is not anticipated for a private residential airstrip of this nature.

Hello,
Would you know who landed at the airport in 163
My Family still owns the Campbellford Airport, however it has been closed since my grandfather retired from flying in his mid-seventies. This would have been 20 years ago or maybe better. Time goes fast when you're having fun!
