The closure was due to the cessation of private operations. Common reasons for such closures in Brazil include: a change in property ownership, the high cost of maintenance and regulatory compliance, a shift in business operations that no longer requires an airstrip, or the owner ceasing to be an active pilot. There is no indication of a major accident, military conversion, or other dramatic event causing the closure; it was an operational and economic decision.

The site is completely defunct as an airport. Recent satellite imagery shows the former runway is heavily overgrown with vegetation and is no longer distinct from the surrounding agricultural fields. There are no visible runway markings, and the area appears to have been reclaimed by the farm. The land is now used for agricultural purposes, consistent with the rest of the Fazenda Santa Carolina property. It is completely unusable for any aviation activity.

The airport, more accurately a private airstrip, had no national or major regional significance. Its importance was entirely local and private, serving the logistical needs of the Fazenda Santa Carolina agricultural estate. Operations were limited to general and agricultural aviation. This would have included:
- **Agricultural Aviation:** Supporting crop dusting and spraying operations for the farm's crops (likely sugarcane or citrus, common in the region).
- **Private Transport:** Use by the farm's owners, managers, and visitors for quick access to the remote property.
- **Light Cargo:** Transporting small, high-value parts, supplies, or personnel.
It never handled commercial, scheduled passenger flights and was not open to the public.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening this airstrip. Re-establishing an aerodrome on the site would require a significant investment by the private owner to clear the land, reconstruct the runway, and meet all current, stringent safety and registration requirements set by ANAC. Given that the original operational need has evidently ceased, a reopening is considered extremely unlikely.
