Unknown, but estimated to be between the late 2010s and early 2020s. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the airstrip was visibly maintained until the mid-to-late 2010s, after which it fell into a state of disrepair and became overgrown. As a private facility, an official public closure date was likely never recorded.
Cessation of private use. The airport was a private airstrip serving a 'fazenda' (farm). The closure was most likely due to economic reasons, a change in the farm's ownership, or a shift in operational needs that rendered the airstrip obsolete. There is no evidence to suggest it was closed due to a major accident, environmental issues, or military conversion.
The site is abandoned and non-operational. Current satellite imagery shows a clearly identifiable but overgrown and unmaintained dirt runway. The land has not been fully reclaimed for agriculture (e.g., plowed over for crops), but the surface is unsuitable for any aviation activity. The airstrip is effectively defunct.
The airport held no major historical significance outside of its utility to the farm it served, 'Fazenda Ponto de Apoio'. Its operations were strictly private and consisted of general aviation activities. This would have included transporting the property owner, personnel, and light cargo, as well as potentially supporting agricultural aviation (crop dusting). It was designed to handle small, light aircraft capable of operating from a short, unpaved runway (approximately 900 meters / 2,953 feet). It never served commercial, scheduled, or public flights.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. Any initiative to reopen would have to come from the private landowner and would require significant investment to clear and resurface the runway, as well as inspection and recertification by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC). Given its remote location and private nature, the likelihood of reopening is extremely low.
