Approximately 2011. Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the runway was intact through 2010 but was completely removed and the area was undergoing major earthworks for a new development by 2012.
Land redevelopment for urban expansion. The airport and the farm it served were located on valuable real estate on the outskirts of the Brasília Federal District. The land was sold and redeveloped into a large, upscale residential community, making the airport's operation impossible.
The site has been completely redeveloped and is now occupied by the 'Alphaville Brasília Residencial 1' and 'Residencial 2' gated communities. The former runway and airport facilities have been entirely replaced by streets, houses, and community infrastructure. There are no remaining traces of the airport.
Fazenda Surucucu Airport was a private airstrip serving the 'Fazenda Surucucu' (Surucucu Farm). Its operations were typical for a rural Brazilian aerodrome: providing private air transport for the farm's owners, supporting agricultural activities (such as crop dusting), and potentially being used for recreational aviation. Its significance was purely local, offering air access to a rural property. The ICAO code 'BR-2117' is an unofficial identifier used by some third-party databases to catalogue small or private airfields in Brazil, not an official code assigned by the national aviation authority (ANAC).
None. The land has been permanently and densely redeveloped for residential use. There is no physical space or political possibility for the airport to be rebuilt or reopened at this location.
