The airport was officially and permanently closed on March 28, 2017. This is documented in the official Brazilian government gazette (Diário Oficial da União) via Portaria ANAC Nº 1033/SIA, issued by Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC).
The airport was closed at the explicit request of its owner/operator ('a pedido do interessado'). This was a private decision and not the result of an accident, economic failure, or government action. Private airstrips, especially those serving agricultural operations, are often closed when the property changes hands, the operational need ceases, or the owner no longer wishes to bear the cost and regulatory burden of maintaining a registered aerodrome.
The site is no longer an active or maintained airfield. Satellite imagery confirms that the former dirt/grass runway is overgrown and is being reclaimed by the surrounding farmland. While the faint outline of the airstrip is still visible from the air, it is unusable for aviation and is now functionally part of the agricultural landscape of the farm. There are no remaining airport facilities or infrastructure.
The facility, officially registered with ANAC as 'Fazenda Andrieli' with the ICAO code SJZX (the code BR-2062 is an unofficial identifier used by some non-governmental databases), was a private aerodrome. Its primary and sole purpose was to support the agricultural operations of the Fazenda Andrieli (Andrieli Farm), a large agricultural property typical of the Mato Grosso region. Operations consisted almost exclusively of agricultural aviation, including crop dusting (spraying of pesticides and fertilizers), aerial seeding, and general light transport for the farm's management. Its significance was purely private and logistical, vital for the efficiency of the farm it served, but it held no public or major historical importance.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Andrieli Base Operacional / Fazenda Andrieli airstrip. As a private facility closed by its owner, any initiative to reopen would have to come from the current landowner, who would need to reapply for registration with ANAC and invest in restoring the runway to meet current safety standards. Given the existence of the main public airport in Primavera do Leste (ICAO: SWPY) and other private airstrips in the region, there is no apparent economic or logistical incentive for this specific airstrip to be reactivated. The prospects are considered non-existent.
