Santa Terezinha Airport

Economic reasons and obsolescence. The airport was a small, private/local unpaved airstrip. Such facilities often close due to the high cost of maintenance relative to their low usage. The land was ultimately repurposed for more profitable agricultural use, which is the primary economic activity in the region.

The site is no longer an airport. The land where the runway was located has been fully converted into agricultural fields and is used for planting crops. While the faint outline of the former runway can still be discerned from satellite views, there are no remaining airport structures like hangars or terminals. The site is now indistinguishable from the surrounding farmland.

Santa Terezinha Airport was a small general aviation airfield serving the local municipality of Tapejara. Its primary function was to support private aircraft and agricultural aviation (crop dusters), which is vital for the region's agribusiness. It featured a single grass/dirt runway (approximately 850 meters) and never handled scheduled commercial passenger or cargo flights. Its significance was purely local, providing air access for area farms and businesses.

Zero. There are no plans to reopen the original Santa Terezinha Airport. Instead, the municipal government of Tapejara has been actively developing plans since 2021 to construct a completely new and modern municipal airport at a different location to better meet the current and future needs of the region. The original site is considered permanently closed.
