Approximately early 2016. The heliport's operations ceased concurrently with the permanent closure of the Pirelli tire factory it served, which was announced in late 2015 and finalized in the first half of 2016.
Economic and strategic restructuring. The heliport was a private facility exclusively for the Pirelli factory. When Pirelli decided to close the Santo André plant to optimize its industrial production in Brazil, the heliport became redundant and was decommissioned along with the entire factory complex.
The site has been completely redeveloped. The entire Pirelli factory complex, including the heliport, was demolished. The land now hosts a large mixed-use development, most notably the 'Atrium Shopping Santo André', which opened in 2013 on a portion of the land. The remaining area has been developed with residential towers and other commercial facilities. The physical infrastructure of the heliport no longer exists.
The Fábrica Pirelli Heliport (also registered under ICAO code SJDO) was a private corporate heliport. Its primary function was to provide rapid and secure transportation for Pirelli's executives, high-profile clients, and technicians. In the traffic-congested São Paulo metropolitan area, corporate heliports are crucial logistical assets, allowing key personnel to bypass road traffic for meetings, travel to airports, or visit other company sites. The heliport was a symbol of the factory's importance and a vital tool for its management operations.
None. There are no plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. The original facility and the industrial plant it served have been completely erased and the land has been permanently repurposed for commercial and residential use. Any future heliport in this location would be an entirely new project unrelated to the original Pirelli facility.
