Circa 2017-2018. While an exact official date of administrative closure with Brazil's National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC) is not publicly available, historical satellite imagery shows the physical helipad markings were still visible in 2016 but were paved over and the area repurposed for logistics by mid-2018.
Economic and operational decision by the owner, Pirelli Pneus S/A. As a private corporate heliport, its closure was likely due to a combination of factors, including cost-cutting measures, a decreased need for executive helicopter transport to this specific plant, or a strategic decision to repurpose the land for expanding factory logistics, as evidenced by its conversion into a truck parking area.
The site of the former heliport has been completely decommissioned and physically removed. The land has been paved over and fully integrated into the Pirelli factory's logistics and parking yard. It is now used as a parking and maneuvering area for trucks and employee vehicles. There is no remaining trace of the aviation facility.
The heliport's significance was exclusively corporate. It served as a private landing facility for Pirelli executives, important clients, and VIPs. Its primary function was to provide rapid, direct, and secure transportation between the company's major industrial plant in Sorocaba's Éden district and metropolitan centers like São Paulo, allowing key personnel to bypass road traffic and maximize efficiency.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. The ICAO identifier BR-1188 is inactive, and the physical site has been repurposed for industrial use. Re-establishing a heliport would require a complete reconstruction of the facility and a new, lengthy registration and certification process with ANAC, which is highly unlikely given the current use of the land.
