Taxis are readily available at a designated taxi rank located directly outside the terminal building. Major companies like Hreyfill and BSR operate from the airport. The journey to downtown Reykjavík is very short, typically taking 5-10 minutes depending on traffic.
Several car rental companies, including Hertz, Avis, Budget, and Europcar, have service desks inside the airport terminal. It is highly recommended to book a vehicle in advance, especially during peak travel seasons. The rental car pickup area is situated in a nearby parking lot.
The Strætó public bus system connects the airport area to downtown Reykjavík. Bus stops are located a short walk from the terminal building (e.g., Route 15 at Nauthóll or Route 19 at Flugstöð). This is the most economical option. Tickets can be purchased via the KLAPP app, a KLAPP card, or with exact cash on the bus.
This airport is much more convenient than BIKF for GA. It's right in the middle of town. If you stay at the Loftleidir hotel, 10 meters from the FBO, you can see your aircraft from your window, although we stayed at the Hotel Holt in the center, which is very nice.
Handling and fuel is expensive, but not unreasonable.
