Saint-Remy Ultralight Airfield

The closure was a private decision by the landowner to cease airfield operations. It was not due to a specific accident, regulatory action, or military conversion, but rather the owner's choice to stop hosting the facility and repurpose the land.

The site has been completely returned to agricultural use. Satellite imagery of the coordinates confirms that the former runway area is now an indistinguishable part of a larger, cultivated farm field. All traces of hangars, runway markers, and other aviation infrastructure have been removed.

Saint-Remy was a private, unpaved airfield dedicated exclusively to ultralight (ULM/microlight) aircraft. Its significance was primarily local and recreational, serving as a base for private pilots and enthusiasts in the Chimay region of Wallonia. It facilitated recreational flying and was a social hub for the local ultralight community. The airfield consisted of a simple grass runway (approximately 400 meters long) and minimal facilities, which is typical for a small, private air-sport venue.

There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airfield. Given that the private land has been fully converted back to productive farmland for over a decade, the likelihood of it being re-established as an airfield is considered to be zero.
