Approximately late 2014. The airfield officially ceased operations at the end of the 2014 flying season.
The airfield was a privately owned field. While no single official reason was widely published, the closure is understood to be the owner's decision, likely for economic or personal reasons. Following the closure, the land was fully reverted to agricultural use, which was its primary value outside of aviation.
The airfield is permanently closed and no longer exists as an aviation facility. The site has been fully converted back into agricultural land and is actively farmed. Current satellite imagery clearly shows that the land is plowed and cultivated, with only a very faint outline of the former runway visible in the fields. All aviation-related infrastructure, such as hangars, windsocks, or markings, has been completely removed.
Fels am Wagram Airfield, which used the official ICAO code LOGF (the AT-0089 identifier is a non-standard national code), was a small, private general aviation airfield. It featured a single grass runway (approximately 650 meters long, oriented 11/29) and served the local recreational flying community. Its primary operations involved ultralight aircraft, motor gliders, and other light sport aircraft. It was the home base for the local flying club, 'UL-Fliegerclub Fels am Wagram,' and provided a crucial facility for local pilots and enthusiasts. The airfield operated strictly under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and held no significance for commercial transport or military activities.
There are no known plans, discussions, or prospects for reopening the airfield. The complete removal of all infrastructure and the full conversion of the land back to profitable agricultural use make any future reopening extremely unlikely. It would require re-acquiring the land from its current owner, significant investment to rebuild all facilities, and a complex and lengthy re-certification process.
