🇺🇸 Goodspeed Airport

Goodspeed Airport (42B) is a privately-owned, public-use airport and seaplane base located in East Haddam, Connecticut, United States. It is a small general aviation facility situated on 57-60 acres along the eastern bank of the Connecticut River, approximately one mile southeast of East Haddam's central business district. The airport operates without a control tower and is unattended.

The airport features two runways:

• A paved asphalt runway (14/32), measuring 2,120 feet long by 50 feet wide (646 x 15 m).
• A water runway (16W/34W) on the Connecticut River, which is 4,500 feet long by 1,000 feet wide (1372 x 305 m). This makes it the largest designated water runway in Connecticut and the only seaplane base in southern New England. The airport also has seaplane docks and a boat ramp.

Goodspeed Airport serves as a hub for general and recreational aviation, including seaplane flight training, and hosts a maintenance facility. It is a popular destination for pilots, offering access to local attractions like the Goodspeed Opera House and nearby restaurants.

Historically, the airport has been in operation for nearly 60 years. In November 2020, it was acquired by New England Airport Associates, LLC, with support from the Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF), to ensure its continued operation and to revitalize the aviation community. The RAF has also helped establish camping facilities for visiting aviators.
