WestJet Encore is a Canadian regional airline, a wholly-owned subsidiary of WestJet, that commenced operations on June 24, 2013. It was established to increase flight frequency on routes with smaller aircraft and to serve markets with lower traffic that could not sustain WestJet's larger Boeing 737s. The airline's headquarters are located in Calgary, Alberta, and its main operational hub is Calgary International Airport (YYC). While Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) has also served as a hub, WestJet Encore refocused its operations on Western Canada in 2021, cancelling all service east of Thunder Bay.
The airline exclusively operates a fleet of De Havilland Canada Dash 8-400 NextGen turboprop aircraft. As of 2025, WestJet Encore operates 39 aircraft, making it the largest operator of the Q400 globally. The route network primarily focuses on regional domestic flights throughout Canada, particularly connecting smaller communities to WestJet's broader network via Calgary. It also offers transborder services to the United States, including year-round flights from Calgary to Seattle, and seasonal services to Portland and Minneapolis from various Canadian cities.
WestJet Encore, like its parent company WestJet, is not a member of any major global airline alliances such as Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. The airline offers both Economy and a designated Premium cabin. The Premium section is located at the front of the aircraft and includes benefits like no change fees, but it does not provide additional legroom compared to Economy on Encore flights. Complimentary soft drinks and snacks are offered, but meals are not available. In-flight entertainment, Wi-Fi, or power ports are generally not provided on Encore's turboprop aircraft. Many flights utilize ground loading, where passengers walk directly onto the apron to board.
