Thai Lion Air (ICAO: TLM) is a Thai low-cost airline that is an associate company of the Indonesian Lion Air Group.
Thai Lion Air commenced operations with its inaugural flight on December 4, 2013, on the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route, with full services beginning the following day. The airline was established to cater to the increasing demand for affordable air travel within Thailand and to neighboring countries, leveraging the successful low-cost model of its parent company. Its primary operational base is Bangkok's Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), and it also lists Taipei–Taoyuan as an operating base.
As of September 2025, Thai Lion Air operates a fleet primarily composed of Boeing 737-800s and Boeing 737-900ERs. The average fleet age for its B737-800s is 10.7 years and for B737-900ERs is 12.7 years. The airline has plans to expand its fleet further with additional B737-900ERs. Thai Lion Air operates an extensive route network, serving 15 domestic destinations and 36 international destinations across 11 countries, predominantly in Asia. Key international markets include China, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan.
Thai Lion Air is not a member of any major global airline alliances such as Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. However, it does engage in codeshare agreements with other airlines, including its parent company, Lion Air. While primarily a low-cost carrier, Thai Lion Air offers Economy Class and previously, on select flights utilizing Airbus A330-300 aircraft, Premium Economy. Economy class passengers can choose from "Lion Normal Seats," "Lion Seats" offering extra legroom, and "Lion Comfort Seats" which provide the most legroom. In-flight entertainment is generally available on seatback screens in Premium Economy (on A330s) or through personal devices via SKYfi on newer Airbus A330neo planes. The airline also provides options for pre-booked meals and pre-paid baggage.
Traveler reviews for Thai Lion Air present a mixed, yet often critical, picture of the airline's services.
