Tri-State Jet Charter, operating under the luxury brand Slate Aviation (ICAO: SGX), has a history dating back to its founding in 1963, making it one of the older carriers in North America. Slate Aviation emerged as the consumer brand of Tri-State Jet Charter, known for its focus on large-cabin private jet services. The company has recently expanded its operations significantly, including taking over the East Coast shuttle services previously run by XOJET Aviation, part of the Vista America group, through a partnership with Vista Global.

The airline's operational base is located at Johnstown John Murtha Cambria County Airport in the United States. In addition, Slate Aviation maintains an Operational Control Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, and a Heavy-Maintenance Base in Greenville, South Carolina.
