OMS (ICAO: OMS) Airline: SalamAir
SalamAir, an Omani low-cost carrier, was founded in 2016 and commenced its operations on January 30, 2017. As Oman's first low-cost airline, it aims to cater to the nation's increasing demand for affordable travel options and support the country's growing air traffic.
The airline's main operational base is at Muscat International Airport (MCT) in Oman, with Salalah International Airport designated as a focus city. SalamAir operates a young and modern fleet consisting exclusively of Airbus A320 family aircraft. Currently, the fleet comprises 15 aircraft, specifically six Airbus A320neo and nine Airbus A321neo. The airline has ambitious plans for expansion, aiming to grow its fleet to 25 aircraft by 2028.
SalamAir's route network is extensive, covering domestic, regional, and international destinations. As of November 2025, it serves over 40 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Subcontinent, and Europe. This includes 5 domestic destinations and 40 international destinations in 23 countries. As a low-cost carrier, SalamAir is not a member of any of the major global airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. While primarily offering economy class services, SalamAir introduced a premium cabin class called Luban seating in 2021. This service, available in the front rows of its A320neo and A321neo aircraft, provides passengers with benefits such as priority check-in, a 40kg baggage allowance, lounge access at Muscat International Airport, complimentary hot meals, free seat selection, and flexible modification/cancellation options. Additionally, SalamAir offers a loyalty program called 'Salam Rewards' (previously 'More on Air') and recently launched mOVemore, a flight membership product for frequent travelers, offering fixed fares and discounted access to priority services and baggage allowance on domestic and GCC routes.
Recent traveler reviews for SalamAir, particularly from 2024 and 2025, reflect a mixed but generally challenging experience for many passengers, which is common for budget airlines.

Overall Sentiment Summary:
The overall sentiment from recent traveler reviews for SalamAir is largely negative, particularly concerning hidden costs related to baggage, frequent flight disruptions, and poor customer service. While the airline offers attractive low fares and operates a modern fleet, these positives are often overshadowed by the perceived lack of transparency, inflexibility, and inadequate support when issues arise. Many travelers advise against flying with SalamAir or suggest being extremely cautious about baggage and potential delays.
SalamAir maintains a commendable safety profile, particularly for a relatively young airline.
