Baker Aviation was founded in 2008 by W. Stanley Baker, Jr., and his son W. Stanley Baker, III, initially providing aircraft management and charter services. The company expanded its capabilities in 2011 by adding maintenance services, and in 2012, it acquired AeroMech, rebranding it as Baker Aviation Maintenance. In 2019, Baker Aviation consolidated its maintenance operations at its headquarters in Fort Worth.

The company's main operational base and headquarters are located at Fort Worth Meacham International Airport (KFTW) in Texas. As a private charter operator, Baker Aviation does not operate a fixed route network in the traditional sense, but its aircraft fly charter flights throughout the United States. The fleet predominantly consists of business jets, including Cessna Citation X and Bombardier Challenger 300 aircraft. As of June 2021, the company managed 14 aircraft, with 10 on its charter certificate. Baker Aviation owns all of its Citation X aircraft and maintains full control over its fleet's scheduling. As a private jet charter company, it is not a member of any major airline alliances like Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld. Notable services include comprehensive aircraft management, maintenance, and jet charter, known for luxury and personalized service. The entire Citation X fleet has been upgraded with Starlink Wi-Fi, enabling services like video meetings, phone calls, and streaming during flights.
