JSX maintains that it has operated safely and securely without incident since its inception, with a record of zero fatalities or serious incidents on its public charter flights. However, recent reports indicate some notable incidents. On May 3, 2024, a JSX Embraer ERJ-145 experienced a left main landing gear collapse and runway excursion upon landing at Houston Hobby International Airport (HOU), resulting in minor injuries to the first officer. These aircraft are acquired from the secondary market after being retired by other airlines and are then retrofitted by JSX with 30 seats. Pilots operating under Part 135 regulations, as JSX pilots do, are not subject to the same minimum 1,500 flying hours or age 65 retirement rule as Part 121 commercial airline pilots, though they must still pass rigorous health requirements.
