GX Airlines, also known as Guangxi Beibu Gulf Airlines, was established in 2015 as a joint venture. Tianjin Airlines holds a 70% stake, while the Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group holds the remaining 30%. The airline commenced its operations on February 13, 2015, with its inaugural flight connecting Nanning to Haikou.
The airline's main operational base is Nanning Wuxu International Airport (NNG), situated in Nanning, China. GX Airlines operates a modern fleet primarily consisting of Airbus A320 family aircraft (A320-200, A320neo) and Embraer E-Jet (E190). As of November 2025, its fleet size is reported to be between 23 and 28 aircraft.
GX Airlines maintains an extensive domestic route network within China, serving 54 destinations. Additionally, it offers international flights to select destinations in Southeast Asia, including Bangkok, Thailand, and has had services to Singapore and Laos. The airline is not a member of any major global airline alliances such as Star Alliance, SkyTeam, or Oneworld, but it engages in codeshare agreements and partnerships with other carriers. GX Airlines is certified as a 3-Star Low-Cost Airline by Skytrax and offers various fare classes including Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class. Passengers can pre-order meals, and on some flights, complimentary hot dishes, bottled water, or hot tea are provided. In-flight entertainment, including movies, music, and games, is available on select flights.
