Approximately between 1998 and 2002. Aeronautical charts from 1994 show the airport as active, and a 1998 aerial photograph confirms the runway was still maintained. However, by a 2002 aerial photograph, the runway area had been completely converted to cultivated farmland.
The specific reason is not officially documented, but as a private airfield, its closure was likely due to a decision by the owner. The conversion of the land back to agricultural use strongly suggests economic reasons (farming being more profitable or less of a liability) or a change in the owner's personal circumstances, such as retirement, sale of the property, or death. There is no evidence of military conversion or a closure resulting from an accident.
The site has been fully reclaimed for agricultural purposes. The former turf runway no longer exists and is indistinguishable from the surrounding farm fields, which are actively cultivated. A single large building, believed to be the airport's original hangar, still stands at the northeast end of the former runway site.
Albrecht 2 Airport, also known as Albrecht Airport or Albrecht Field (with the former FAA identifier 3LL3), was a small, private-use general aviation airfield. It first appeared on aeronautical charts around 1969. The airport featured a single unpaved, turf runway oriented NW/SE with a length of approximately 2,600 feet. Its operations were limited to serving the personal aircraft of its owner, Donald Albrecht, and possibly other local private pilots. It held no significant commercial or military importance but served as a local aviation facility for nearly three decades.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. Given that the land has been fully integrated into active agricultural operations for over two decades, a return to aviation use is considered highly improbable.
