Fayette Memorial Hospital Heliport

Economic reasons and corporate restructuring. The operator, Fayette Regional Health System, went into bankruptcy. When Reid Health acquired the hospital, all associated assets were reorganized. This included formally closing the heliport registered to the previous entity and re-establishing it under the new ownership and name.

The physical site is still an active heliport. The hospital is now named Reid Health Connersville, and the heliport operates as the Reid Health Connersville Heliport (FAA LID: 29IN). The original concrete helipad and its markings are still in use at the same location, continuing to serve the same medical transport function for the community under new management.

The Fayette Memorial Hospital Heliport was a private-use medical heliport. Its primary and vital role was to support the hospital's emergency services. It handled air ambulance operations, primarily for transporting critically ill or injured patients. For a rural hospital like Fayette Memorial, the heliport was a crucial link, enabling rapid transfer to larger, more specialized trauma centers in Indianapolis or other major cities, significantly improving patient outcomes in time-sensitive cases.

There are no prospects for reopening the heliport under its former name and ICAO code (US-11404) because the entity it was named after, Fayette Memorial Hospital, no longer exists. The heliport's function never truly ceased; it was simply transitioned to a new operator and designation. The site is fully operational as the Reid Health Connersville Heliport.
