The heliport was closed due to the complete relocation of its associated hospital. The Magic Valley Regional Medical Center moved from its original location on Addison Avenue West to a new, larger, and more modern facility on Pole Line Road West. Upon moving, the hospital was renamed St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. A new, modern heliport (St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center Heliport, FAA ID: ID87) was constructed at the new hospital site, rendering the old heliport (US-11379) obsolete and unnecessary.
The site of the former heliport and the old hospital building has been completely repurposed. The property was acquired by the College of Southern Idaho (CSI). The old hospital building now serves as the CSI Health Sciences and Human Services building. The exact location of the former helipad has been absorbed into the college campus grounds and is now part of a parking lot and landscaped area, with no remaining trace of its previous aviation use.
The Magic Valley Regional Medical Center Heliport was a critical piece of emergency medical infrastructure for Twin Falls and the surrounding rural communities of Southern Idaho. As the primary landing site for the region's main hospital, it handled essential air ambulance and medical evacuation (medevac) operations. Helicopters transported critically ill and injured patients from accident scenes and smaller medical facilities to the hospital's trauma center, significantly reducing transport times and improving patient outcomes. The heliport was integral to the region's emergency response network for many years.
There are no plans or prospects for reopening this heliport. Its function was permanently transferred to the new heliport at the current St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. The original site has been fully redeveloped for educational purposes by the College of Southern Idaho, making a future return to aviation use impossible.
