Approximately between 1998 and 2000. The airpark was depicted on aeronautical charts as late as 1998 but was no longer listed in the 2000 AOPA Airports USA Directory. Satellite imagery confirms a large building was constructed on the western end of the runway by 2005, making the closure permanent within that timeframe.
Economic reasons and land redevelopment. The property was sold and repurposed for commercial/industrial use. The construction of a large, permanent building directly on the former runway path indicates the closure was a result of the land's value for development rather than operational issues like an accident or military conversion.
The site is now an industrial/commercial property. The western portion of the former runway is occupied by a large commercial building and parking lot, home to a business named Bed-Techs, Inc., located on a street appropriately named 'Action Drive'. The eastern portion of the former runway is an open grass field where the faint outline of the old airstrip is still visible from the air.
Action Airpark (which also used the FAA identifier 3IN7) was a small, privately-owned general aviation airfield active from approximately the mid-1970s to the late 1990s. It served the local aviation community in the Lawrenceburg, Indiana area. The facility consisted of a single unpaved turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet long, designated as Runway 9/27. It was primarily used by private pilots for recreational flying and was home to light, single-engine aircraft. Its significance was purely local, as it did not handle commercial, cargo, or military operations.
None. The prospect of reopening is zero. The land has been permanently redeveloped with a significant commercial structure built directly on the former runway, making any future aviation activity at this specific location impossible.
