Between 1994 and 1998. The airport was depicted on the 1994 Miami Sectional Chart but was no longer listed on the 1998 World Aeronautical Chart.
The closure was due to economic factors and changing land use. The land, situated near Interstate 95, became significantly more valuable for commercial development than for its use as a private airstrip. The decision to close and sell the land for redevelopment was a private business decision by the owners, a common fate for many private airfields in developing areas.
The airport site has been completely and irreversibly redeveloped. There are no remaining traces of the runway or any aviation facilities. The land is now occupied by a large FedEx Ground distribution hub and other associated commercial/industrial buildings.
Strazzulla Groves Airport was a private-use airfield established to support the large-scale agricultural operations of the Strazzulla family, who were prominent citrus growers in the region. First appearing on aeronautical charts around 1970, the airport's primary operations included agricultural aviation (crop dusting, spraying) and private transportation for the business. It featured a single unpaved turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet in length, and served as a vital asset for the management and maintenance of the surrounding citrus groves.
None. The prospect of reopening is zero, as the original airport property has been permanently repurposed for large-scale industrial and commercial use. The land has been graded, built upon, and is an integral part of the local commercial infrastructure, making any return to aviation use impossible.
