Shaws Hill Heliport

The heliport was a private facility located on a large residential estate. The closure was not due to military conversion, a major accident, or broad economic factors. The most probable reason is that the property owner who owned and operated the helicopter either sold the property, moved, or otherwise ceased flying operations from the site.

The site is a private residential property in Grass Valley. Analysis of current satellite imagery shows that the circular, paved helipad structure is still physically present on the grounds of the estate, adjacent to the main house and a circular driveway. However, it is no longer registered or recognized as an active heliport.

The heliport holds no significant public or historical importance. It was a private landing pad built for the convenience of the property's resident. Its operations would have been limited to personal, private helicopter flights and it was never open for public, commercial, or emergency medical service use. The non-standard ICAO code 'US-11179' is an identifier used by some third-party aviation databases for unlisted or private fields, confirming it was not part of the official national airspace system for public use.

There are no known public plans or prospects for reopening the heliport. As it is on private land, any future use as a heliport would be at the sole discretion of the current property owner and subject to local zoning and FAA regulations for private-use landing sites. It is highly unlikely to ever become a public facility.
