Circa mid-2000s (approximately 2005-2008). Analysis of historical satellite imagery shows the airstrip was still visible but falling into disuse in the early 2000s. By 2009, construction for the adjacent industrial park and agricultural tilling had effectively erased the runway.
Economic reasons, specifically land redevelopment for industrial use. The airfield was located on prime real estate adjacent to the developing Prologis International Park of Tracy. The land became significantly more valuable for large-scale logistics and distribution centers, leading to the airstrip's sale and removal.
The site of the former airport is completely gone. The land has been repurposed and is now occupied by a combination of tilled agricultural fields and industrial overflow, specifically truck and trailer parking lots associated with the massive distribution centers of the Prologis International Park of Tracy located immediately to the west. There are no visible remnants of the runway or any aviation facilities.
33 Strip was a small, private, unpaved airfield. Its name was derived from its primary runway's magnetic heading of approximately 330 degrees (Runway 33). The identifier US-11149 is a non-official code assigned by the US government for cataloging private airfields not part of the primary FAA system. The strip primarily served small, single-engine general aviation aircraft for local recreational flying and potentially agricultural operations, given its location in the Central Valley. It held no significant military or commercial aviation history.
None. The land has been fully redeveloped for industrial and agricultural use. The physical runway no longer exists, and the surrounding area is now a major logistics hub, making the re-establishment of an airport physically and economically impossible.
