Willis Airport

The airport is permanently closed and no longer exists. The site at coordinates 33.8512, -85.663 has been completely converted back to agricultural land. Modern satellite imagery shows cultivated fields with no visible remnants of the former runway, taxiways, or any associated buildings.

Willis Airport was a small, private general aviation airfield. It first appeared on aeronautical charts in the mid-1960s. Operations were minimal and consisted of a single unpaved, north/south turf runway, approximately 2,200 feet in length. It served local private pilots and was not used for commercial or military operations. Its significance was limited to the local aviation community it served during its period of activity.
