The airport was closed sometime between 1993 and 1998. It was depicted on the 1993 San Antonio Sectional Chart but was no longer present on the 1998 World Aeronautical Chart.
The specific reason for closure is not publicly documented. As a private airfield on a ranch, the closure was likely due to a decision by the property owner. Common reasons for such closures include the sale of the property, the owner ceasing aviation activities, prohibitive liability or maintenance costs, or the owner's passing. The closure was not related to military conversion or public economic factors.
The airport site has been fully reclaimed for agricultural use. Current satellite imagery shows the land is being used as pasture for grazing, consistent with the surrounding ranch land. While a very faint outline of the former north-south runway is still discernible from the air, all aviation-specific infrastructure, such as hangars, windsocks, or markings, has been removed. The land is now an open field.
Dobbs Ranch Airport, which also used the FAA identifier 30TE, was a private general aviation airfield. Its primary function was to serve the needs of the Dobbs Ranch. It featured a single unpaved (turf/dirt) runway, oriented approximately north/south, with a reported length varying between 2,600 and 3,000 feet over the years. Operations were limited to light, single-engine aircraft suitable for landing on a short, unimproved strip. The airport was used for personal transportation and likely for agricultural support activities related to the ranch. It had no commercial or military significance and was not open to the public.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the Dobbs Ranch Airport. Having been officially closed for over two decades and with the land fully converted back to agricultural use, a reopening is considered extremely unlikely.
