Approximately between 2016 and 2017. The airport was still depicted on the 2016 Washington Sectional Chart as a private airfield. However, aerial imagery from 2017 clearly shows that the distinct turf runway had been plowed over and integrated into the surrounding agricultural field.
Economic reasons and change in land use. As a private airstrip located on a farm, the decision was likely made by the landowner to cease aviation operations and reclaim the land for its primary agricultural purpose. This is a common fate for private airfields when the owner stops flying, sells the property, or decides the land is more valuable for farming.
The airport is permanently closed and no longer exists as an aviation facility. The site of the former runway has been fully converted back into an active, cultivated agricultural field. Depending on the season and crop rotation, a faint outline of the former grass strip can sometimes be discerned in satellite imagery, but there is no remaining aviation infrastructure.
Crippen Creek Farm Airport was a private-use airfield that served the owner of Crippen Creek Farm. Established sometime after 1994 and before 2000, it consisted of a single, well-maintained north/south turf runway measuring approximately 2,600 feet by 100 feet. Its operations were limited to private general aviation, likely for the owner's personal and recreational use with light, single-engine aircraft. Its significance was not regional but rather specific to the property, providing convenient air access for the farm's owner.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Crippen Creek Farm Airport. The land has been repurposed for agriculture, and re-establishing an airfield would require significant private investment and intent from the current landowner. The airport has been removed from all official aviation databases and charts.
