Circa 2001-2002. The airport was listed as operational in 2001, but aerial imagery from 2002 clearly shows the runway marked with large, white closed 'X' symbols, indicating it had ceased operations by that time.
Economic reasons and urban development. The privately-owned airport occupied valuable real estate in a growing suburban area. The land was sold to developers and repurposed for a more profitable use, a common fate for many small general aviation airports in the United States.
The site has been completely redeveloped into a residential housing community. The development features streets with aviation-themed names that pay homage to the land's history, such as 'Runway Road', 'Propeller Place', 'Bi-Plane Boulevard', and 'Tail-Spin Circle'. There are no physical remnants of the runway or airport facilities.
The airport was almost exclusively known locally and in aviation records as Moyer Airport (FAA identifier: P34). The name 'Gold Mine Field' is a less common alternate or database name. Established in the 1950s by Ernest Moyer, it was a classic, privately-owned, public-use general aviation airfield. It featured a single turf runway (Runway 18/36) of approximately 2,100 feet and a few small hangars. For nearly 50 years, Moyer Airport served the local aviation community in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, supporting recreational flying, flight training, and other general aviation activities.
Zero. The land has been permanently and irreversibly converted into a residential neighborhood. There are no plans or possibilities for the site to ever be used as an airport again.
