Approximately between 2017 and 2018. Satellite imagery shows the runway was still intact and clear in late 2016, but by mid-2018, the land was being prepared for new construction, and by 2019, residential streets were being laid out.
Economic reasons, specifically urban encroachment and real estate development. The land, located in the rapidly growing Kansas City suburb of Olathe, became significantly more valuable for residential housing than as a private airfield. The owner sold the property to developers to build a new housing subdivision.
The airport site has been completely and permanently redeveloped. The land where the runway and hangar once stood is now the 'Cedar Niles' residential housing development. The entire area has been transformed with single-family homes, streets (such as W 165th St and S Harwood St), and community infrastructure. There are no remaining traces of the former airport.
Clear View Farm Airport was a small, private-use airfield. It was not historically significant on a national or regional level but served as a personal airstrip for its owner(s) for recreational flying. When active, it featured a single, well-maintained north-south turf runway, approximately 2,600 feet in length. A small hangar was located at the north end of the property. The airport never had a commercial or significant general aviation role and did not possess an official IATA code or a standard FAA Location Identifier, with 'US-10977' being a non-official identifier from a third-party database.
None. The prospect of reopening the airport is zero. The land has been irreversibly converted to a high-density residential use. Re-establishing an airfield at this location is impossible due to the existing development and the incompatibility of flight operations with the surrounding residential community.
