The airport was closed sometime between 1980 and 1994. It was still depicted as an active private field on the 1980 Memphis Sectional Chart but was no longer charted on the 1994 edition.
The specific reason for closure is not officially documented. However, the circumstances are typical for small, private airfields in rural areas. The closure was most likely due to economic factors, such as the owner no longer needing the airstrip, the cost of upkeep becoming prohibitive, or the land being repurposed for more profitable agricultural use.
The site of the former Reedville Airport has been entirely reclaimed for agricultural purposes. Current satellite imagery shows that the land is now a cultivated farm field. The faint, linear outline of the former runway is still visible from the air, but it has been plowed over and is now covered with crops. There are no remaining structures such as hangars, sheds, or any other signs of its past as an airfield.
Reedville Airport was a small, private airfield operational from at least the mid-1960s. It featured a single unpaved, turf runway oriented northwest/southeast, with a length of approximately 2,600 feet. Located in the heart of the Arkansas Delta, its primary function was almost certainly to support agricultural aviation. Operations would have consisted of light aircraft, such as crop dusters, used for seeding, fertilizing, and applying pesticides to the vast farmlands surrounding Dumas.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening Reedville Airport. The land has been used for farming for over 30 years, and the general aviation needs of the region are met by the Billy Free Municipal Airport (8M3), located just a few miles southwest of Dumas.
