The airport was closed sometime between 1982 and 1990. It was listed as an active private airfield in the 1982 AOPA Airports USA Directory but was no longer depicted on the 1990 aeronautical chart, indicating its closure within that timeframe.
The closure was primarily for economic reasons related to land redevelopment. The property was acquired and developed for industrial use by the energy and oilfield services company Schlumberger (now SLB). The value of the land for a large-scale industrial facility surpassed its value as a small general aviation airport.
The site is now a large, well-established industrial operations center for SLB (formerly Schlumberger). The original runway is still partially visible from satellite imagery but has been repurposed as an access road and storage area for heavy equipment and vehicles. The property is covered with numerous large industrial buildings, workshops, storage tanks, and administrative offices, completely integrated into the SLB facility. The site is an active industrial zone and is not accessible to the public.
Brandley Airport was a privately-owned general aviation airport that served the community of El Reno, Oklahoma. First appearing on aeronautical charts in the early 1960s, it featured a single paved north-south runway (17/35) approximately 2,600 feet in length. It catered to local private pilots and small aircraft, serving as a hub for recreational flying and personal transportation. The airport did not have any known military history or major commercial operations.
There are no plans or prospects for reopening Brandley Airport. The extensive and permanent industrial development by SLB on the site makes a return to aviation operations infeasible. The land has been completely repurposed, and the essential infrastructure for an airport no longer exists in a functional state.
