Approximately late 2020 or early 2021
The airport was a private airstrip owned and operated by Thrust Industries, Inc. Its closure is directly linked to the death of the company's founder, owner, and sole pilot, Thomas E. Kramer, in November 2020. Following his passing, aviation operations at the private field ceased.
The site is no longer an operational airport. The physical runway remains intact but is now used as an industrial storage yard for the ongoing operations of Thrust Industries, Inc. Recent satellite imagery shows the runway surface covered with large pipes, trailers, and other heavy equipment. The hangar is still standing and appears to be used as a workshop or for storage.
Thrust Industries Airport was a private-use, non-public airport built to serve the business and personal aviation needs of Thrust Industries, Inc., a company specializing in horizontal directional drilling. The airport consisted of a single paved runway, approximately 2,450 feet (747 meters) in length, and an adjacent hangar/workshop. It was used by the company's owner, an avid pilot, for personal and corporate travel. The identifier US-10871 is an unofficial code from a non-governmental aviation database and not an official FAA or ICAO identifier; the airport was never listed on official aeronautical charts with a formal identifier.
There are no known plans or prospects for reopening the airport. Given that it was a private facility for a specific individual who is now deceased, and the land has been fully repurposed for industrial storage, it is extremely unlikely that it will ever be restored to aviation use.
